ANN has reported Today that Warner Bros has recently released a trailer for the second season of the Gate anime which is slated to air on January 9th, 2016.
As revealed earlier, both main cast and staff are returning from the first season to work on this sequel. The returning "Kishida Kyoudan & The Akeboshi Rockets" band is performing the opening theme song titled "GATE II - Sekai wo Koete". While Nao Tōyama, Hisako Kanemoto and Risa Taneda are all returning to perform the untitled ending theme song as their characters'.

Plot:
The story is set on the 21st century, when a gate appears in the Ginza district in Tokyo, where monsters and knights of the Middle Ages of Europe and other fantasy beings begin pouring down from the portal and begin killing people in Tokyo.This event is known as the Ginza Incident. The government sends a squad of soldiers in the Japanese Self-Defense Forces to an alternative world behind the gate. Led by an otaku soldier named "Yoji", they find that the towns in this world are under attack by a dragon. A girl named "Elf" who survived from the dragon's tizzy joins the group in its dangerous adventure across this new strange world.
